Membership

The Economic Club of Chicago is comprised of leaders at the top of their profession, not only in Chicago, but also in the nation. Throughout the year, members gather for meetings over breakfast, lunch and dinner in downtown Chicago. The most traditional Club meetings are its four black-tie dinners, where global leaders share their views on important contemporary issues.

Membership is limited and reflective of the diverse leadership of the Chicago metropolitan area. In keeping with the ECC’s mission, the membership process emphasizes maintaining a balance between experienced and upcoming executives so that one generation of Chicago's business and civic leaders can meet with and mentor their successors.

Candidates for membership must be nominated and seconded by two current Club members, and then approved by a committee of their peers. A complete application includes a proposal for membership, copy of the candidate’s biography, letters of recommendation from both the primary and secondary sponsor, and attendance at one of ECC's black-tie dinner meetings. The Membership Committee meets regularly and reviews all completed applications, taking into consideration candidates’ business and professional achievements, civic and philanthropic activities, and memberships with other local organizations.

To nominate an individual for membership, a current member of The Economic Club of Chicago may login and follow the Nominations link or email membership@econclubchi.org to request a proposal for membership.
